I found that some of life's greatest revelations can discovered on the open road with nothing more than an evening breeze, jazz on the radio, and a 5lb bag of gummi bears. I've also learned that I'll always have more questions than answers (and that's okay!). May this be a written and visual documentation of this crazy journey we call life.

Maybe I should go to Medical School

For some reason, I have this fascination with sewing. I love the dexterity required to use a needle and thread (it's my nimble Asian fingers!). The repetition involved also has this calming effect on my mind where I can easily zone out for a couple hours. In terms of my art making, I use sewing as a means to combine and attach materials in ways that create new and innovative forms.

I'm currently working with oranges for Carrie Mather and Andy Sell's show, "Smorgasbord: A Feast for the Senses." I'm cutting the oranges in a variety of patterns and then re-sewing the peels together. Hopefully, as they dry out and shrink, they'll create an interesting artifact for the exhibition. I like the idea of recycling materials that we throw away. Normally the orange rind is useless once we peel it off, but perhaps it will serve another purpose as an art piece.
